Hampshire is een graafschap in Zuidoost Engeland.

In het zuidwesten ligt de New Forest, een fraaie bosachtige omgeving. Voor de kust, ter hoogte van Southampton, ligt het eiland Wight, dat vroeger ook deel uitmaakte van Hampshire.

Districten Hampshire : Basingstoke and Deane, Eastleigh, East Hampshire, Fareham, Gosport, Hart, Havant, New Forest, Portsmouth, Rushmoor, Southampton, Test Valley en Winchester.

De hoofdstad is de oude stad Winchester, die in de vroege Engelse geschiedenis de hoofdstad was van het Angelsaksische koninkrijk Wessex.

Lewes, the county town of Sussex is a mixture of the impressive, the unusual and the intriguing. After the Norman invasion of 1066, most of Sussex was given to William de Warenne, to rule over the South Saxons. His base was Lewes, which he settled and fortified by building an impressive Castle and establishing a Priory dedicated to St Pancras. A building of wealth and splendour said to rival Westminster Abbey, it was set to become one of the most important Cluniac priories in Europe.

 Jane Austens House Museum
The novelist Jane Austen spent the last eight years of her life at Chawton in the 17th century house which is now preserved in her memory. She wrote some of her best work here. Come and visit and let them tell you the story of Jane Austen and her family.
 Oakleaf Brewery [ Gosport ]  -  a cask ale brewery
Cask ale is the term for unfiltered and unpasteurised beer which is conditioned [ including secondary fermentation ] and served from a cask.
 Royal Navy Submarine Museum [ Gospsort ]
tracing the international history of submarine development from the age of Alexander the Great to the present. Based just outside of Fort Blockhouse.
 Silchester Roman Town  -  important heritage site
The Roman town of Calleva Atrebatum, now called Silchester, is where the occupying forces built a considerable settlement with temples, an amphitheatre and even an early Christian church. On the edge of the Basingstoke and Deane Borough, near the Berkshire border.
S tratfield Saye House
The magnificent estate at Stratfield Saye was the reward for the 1st Duke of Wellington on his heroic return from the Battle of Waterloo.
 Titchfield Abbey  -  former abbey and country house

 Whitchurch Silk Mill
South-east of Basingstoke and situated on Frog Island in the River Test, the small market town of Whitchurch offers a wonderfully unique attraction. Whitchurch Silk Mill is the last working mill of its kind in the south of England, and used to produce silk for Burberry raincoats and legal gowns.

 Farnborough Symphony Orchestra 
The Farnborough Symphony Orchestra serves the local community in North East Hampshire. Founded in 1922 as the Royal Aircraft Establishment Orchestral Society, it has a long history of performing in the local area and currently presents four concerts each season.
 Thornden Hall  -  performing arts centre
Located within the Thornden School Site and the home of the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra, Eastleigh Area Schools Orchestra, Thornden Community Wind Band, TOMS, Stagecoach Theatre Arts and Tribe Community Arts, who all rehearse or hold classes throughout the week.  It is also a popular performance venue for many orchestras and other arts groups.

 Jane Austen
The novelist Jane Austen was born in Steventon in 1775 and spent most of her life in the village. She drew her inspiration for Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility from her life in Hampshire. See Jane Austen Society.
