Jimmy Hendrix Rock guitarist extraordinaire Jimi Hendrix was put to rest in 1970 at Renton's Greenwood Cemetery, 350
Monroe Ave. N.E. Last November, the Seattle rock legend's remains were moved to a lavish new memorial in
the southwestern corner of the cemetery. The memorial features a nearly 30-foot-high granite dome
supported by three pearl-gray columns trimmed in "rainbow" marble. The cemetery is not gated, and is open dawn to dusk. Office hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and by appointment Sunday.

In 1959, an unlikely artist inspired by the Stuttgart Tower in Germany was sketching his vision of a dominant central structure for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair on a placemat in a coffee house....
